The PTO board is elected each spring. Here’s what each role on the board does.

President

Provides overall leadership and oversight for the PTO, ensuring the organization operates in alignment with its mission and bylaws. Serves as Chair of the Executive Board and presides over Executive Board and General Membership meetings. Collaborates with school administration to foster a positive partnership between the school, staff, families, and PTO. Participates as a member of all PTO committees and represents the PTO on the School Improvement Team (SIT), communicating key information between the school and PTO membership. Prepares and delivers an annual summary report highlighting accomplishments and activities from the year in office.

Vice President

Supports the President in carrying out the goals and responsibilities of the PTO. Assists with organizational leadership, special projects, and committee activities as needed. Performs duties assigned by the President or Executive Board and serves as a key resource in ensuring the successful operation of PTO programs and events.

Secretary

Maintains accurate and organized records of all PTO business and activities. Records attendance and meeting minutes for Executive Board and General Membership meetings, prepares meeting agendas, and distributes approved minutes and notices to PTO members. Maintains official PTO documents, including bylaws, membership records, and Executive Committee decisions. Ensures newly elected board members receive governing documents and provides access to bylaws for members and school staff upon request. Supports communication and administrative functions as directed by the President or Executive Board.

Treasurer 1

Manages and oversees the financial operations of the PTO, ensuring funds are collected, tracked, and spent in accordance with the organization’s budget, financial policies, and bylaws. Maintains accurate records of receipts, expenditures, and financial transactions related to PTO-sponsored activities and events. Provides regular financial reports at PTO General Membership and Executive Board meetings, including year-to-date and annual financial statements. Prepares year-end financial reports and coordinates financial reviews or audits as required.

Treasurer 2

Assists in the management and safeguarding of PTO funds by serving as an authorized financial custodian. Responsible for receiving, counting, documenting, and issuing receipts for all cash and checks submitted to the PTO. Supports financial recordkeeping and reporting processes while ensuring compliance with PTO financial policies and procedures. Performs additional financial and administrative duties as assigned by the President or Executive Board.
